Our Education Programs empower Cambodians by promoting literacy for children in rural villages and communities in need. Ratanak has also built schools and funded education programs for children with disabilities.
Through the years of revolution and genocide, Cambodia’s education system was effectively dismantled. Teachers, professors and all those with any significant education were executed. Much of the accumulated knowledge gathered over the generations was lost.
In the subsequent years of isolation brought about by an international embargo, teachers could not be found and resources were virtually non-existent. From the pre-UN days until now, Ratanak International has sought out opportunities to assist in the base-line education of Cambodian children, for without a foundation of shared knowledge, no society can progress.
Today, Ratanak International provides rural children and youth with access to computers, libraries, literacy classes, mentoring and other programs that empower Cambodians to build their own futures, and to be agents of change in their country.
